WILLIS J. FELTON SR.

Willis Jordan Felton Sr., 75, of the 3800 block of Rocky Hock Road, died March 2, 1997, at his residence.

He was a native of Chowan County and a son of the late William P. Felton Sr. and Mrs. Frances Simon Felton. He retired 18 years ago after 38 years as a long-distance truck driver for Preston, the 151 Line Trucking. He was a World War II Army veteran, and a member of Teamsters Local 822. He was a member and deacon of the Welches Chapel Baptist Church, Tyner.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Hattie Dillard Felton; six daughters, Lessie F. Leary and Vivian Chisolm of Portsmouth, Lavern F. Branch and Karen F. Reeves of Chesapeake, Lala F. Scott of Killeen, Texas, Lisa F. Copeland of Tyner; two sons, Willis J. Felton Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Steven G. Felton of Louisville; a brother, David L. Felton of Tyner; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his mother-in-law, Ida B. Daniels of Tyner.

The body will be taken from Peebles Funeral Home to Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, for viewing Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral will be held Thursday at noon in Welches Chapel Baptist Church, Tyner, with the Rev. Franklin Griffin Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken from Peebles Funeral Home, Suffolk, to the church at 10 a.m. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
