Retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Maurice Corban Vickers, 83, passed away March 1, 1997.
Mr. Vickers was born in Corbandale, Tenn. He was a member of the Oakdale Presbyterian Church and the Fleet Reserve Association. His Masonic memberships included Norview Lodge No. 113 AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies in Norfolk and the Khedive Temple, Chesapeake.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Gyle Vickers; two daughters, Marsha Ann Vickers and Jean Corban Vickers; two sons, Richard Lewis Vickers and Maurice Sandy Vickers; a sister, Margaret Bailey, and a brother, Lemoine Vickers; four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. in Altmeyer Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery with military honors. The Rev. Frank Drake will officiate. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall of Oakdale Presbyterian Church, 550 E. Little Creek Road, Norfolk. Altmeyer Funeral Home is in charge.
