CALVIN C. HUGHES

Calvin C. Hughes, 73, died March 4, 1997, in his home.

A warehouseman for Naval Supply Center, he also retired from the U.S. Navy. A native of Russellville, Ala., Mr. Hughes was a member of Bayview Baptist Church and a member at large with the Fleet Reserve.

Survivors include his wife, Lily J. Hughes; two sons, Patrick K. Hughes of Norfolk and Timothy S. Hughes of Suffolk; three sisters, Lorene Whitehead of Stanfield, Ariz., Christine Smith of Oxnard, Calif., and Betty Grey of Orange City, Fla.; four brothers, Herbert Hughes of Haleyville, Ala., Herman Hughes of Sikeston, Mo., Garland Hughes of Port Richie, Fla., and Fred Hughes of Ana, Okla.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Pastor Hennie Becker. Donations may be made to Navy Relief or the Alzheimer's Association. Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
