George W. Joyner, 75, of Oak Trail Apts., died March 5, 1997, in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin.
Born in Southampton County, he was a retired laborer of Hancock Peanut Co. He was a member of David Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, Courtland, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was the son of the late Florence Joyner and Joe Henry Joyner.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie B. Joyner; two daughters, Georgette J. Whitehead of Franklin; Carolyn L. Cobb-Sowell of Washington, D.C.; a son, Charles H. Joyner of Courtland; a brother, The Rev. John H. Joyner of Courtland; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in David Temple AME Zion Church, Courtland, by the Rev. Samuel L. Buck, pastor. Burial will be in Southampton AME Zion Church Cemetery, Courtland. Engram Funeral Home, Courtland, is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
