DIXIE W. MALLISON

Dixie Whiteley Mallison, 64, of Virginia Beach, died March 9, 1997, in her residence.

Mrs. Mallison was a native of Milwaukee, Wis., grew up in New York City and lived in Virginia Beach since 1972. She was valedictorian of her class at Roosevelt High School, Yonkers, N.Y.

She attended Vasser College and received her degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, N.C. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

As a teenager, she was an accomplished concert pianist and made her debut with the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra at age 15. She performed with various orchestras along the East Coast. As a resident of Virginia Beach, she was an active volunteer with the Virginia Beach Public Library for many years and was a member of Galilee Episcopal Church, Virginia Beach.

Mrs. Mallison was retired from Goodman, Segar and Hogan Realty Company.

Survivors include one daughter, Janet M. Brashear of McLean, Va.; two sons, Scott Whiteley Mallison of Virginia Beach and William Henry Mallison III of San Jose, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

A church service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 1997, at Galilee Episcopal Church by the Rev. Calvin G. Gardner. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23513.
