Ernestine Gaynor Smith, the widow of James T. Smith, of the 900 block of Wolcott Ave., passed away March 10, 1997, in Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Robertsville, N.C., to the late Lehmont and Hattie Knight. She was a member of Queen Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Rosa S. Lindsey of Cleveland, Ohio, Carolyn A. Palmer, Geraldine M. Pollard, Janice Thomas of Norfolk, Debra D. Simpkins of Newport News; a son, Michael L. Smith of Norfolk; a sister, Mary Ward of Baltimore, Md.; a brother, Donald L. Knight of Norfolk; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Queen Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Peter M. Wherry. The family will receive friends at the residence, 979 Wolcott Ave. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Graves Funeral Home, Norfolk, is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
