JANET L.M. SIMPSON

Janet Lee Mullen Simpson, 49, daughter of Maxine M. Mullen of Norfolk, died March 10, 1997, in Savannah, Ga.

She was born in Kansas City, Mo., and moved to Norfolk in 1952, where she attended Norfolk Public Schools and Hicks Beauty Academy.

At one time she sailed on the tugboat Ajax as chief cook. She was also manager of the River Terrace, Friar Tucks and Operating Room in Norfolk.

Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband, Floyd Simpson of Beaufort, S.C.; sons, Tommy and Bobby; stepdaughters, Joanne and Deanne; brother, Michael W. Mullen and sisters, Judy Mullen, Terry Fitzpatrick and Alice Mullen, plus numerous nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by her father, Arthur W. Mullen and brother, Charles ``C.A.'' Mullen.
