James McCoy Stith of the 3500 block of Trant Ave., went to be with his Heavenly Father March 7, 1997, in his home.
A native of Norfolk, he was the son of the late James and Lottie Stith.
James received his early education in Norfolk,
graduating from Booker T. Washington High School. Later he continued his education at Norfolk State University. James was retired from Norfolk Public Schools as an attendance officer. He previously worked in the Stop Program and Norfolk Recreational Centers. His love for young people kept him in the education field.
James joined Garrett's Baptist Full Gospel Church at an early age and continued faithfully as a deacon until his death.
Survivors include his wife, Gennette Stith; two daughters, Pamela Waller and Vanessa Martin; two sons, James Stith Jr. and Parris Stith; two sisters, Ruth S. Outlaw and Lara Revelle; two grandsons, Harold Waller and Michael Martin; and a granddaughter, Sabrina Martin.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday by the Rev. Johnny Reid in Garrett's Baptist Church. A wake will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. today in Graves Funeral Home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery. ILLUSTRATION: Photo KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
