Lenore Hart, of the Eastern Shore, and Nan Byrne, of Virginia Beach, have received ROADS Publishers' Poet's Choice Awards for poems published in Straightway Dangerous, volume 13 of ROADS' annual The Poet's Domain. Hart's ``McKean County, Pennsylvania'' earned first place; and Byrne's ``Crown Heights'' received third. Recognized with honorable mention were Lynn Dean Hunter, of Virginia Beach, for her poem, ``e-mail to Whitman''; Mary K. Parlin, of Norfolk, for ``Broken Buzzsaw''; Barbara Smith, of Newport News, for ``Memories of Loss''; and Byrne for ``a madonna.''
