Vernice E. Griffin, 81, of the 2700 block of Cedar Road, died March 12, 1997, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Born in Portsmouth, she was a former nurse for Portsmouth General Hospital with eight years of service. She was a foster mother for 40 years and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Chesapeake.
Survivors include her husband, Allen W. Griffin Jr.; five daughters, Sandra Sampson and Shirley Perry, both of Chesapeake, Christine Brickhouse of Norfolk, Kathy Griffin of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Rosalind Mabry of Chesapeake; stepdaughter, Frances Epps of Norfolk; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a cousin, Julia Smith; and other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel, Portsmouth, by Percy Willis Sr. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing at the funeral home will begin at noon today. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
