Mary Dixon Brett, 81, of the first block of Cypress Road, died March 15, 1997.

She was a retired saleslady for Singer Sewing Machines and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a member of Maude Bailey Sunday School Class. She was a native of Onslow County, N.C.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Brett; a daughter, Patricia Ann Herring of Missoula, Mont.; a son, R. Gerald Dixon of Charlottesville, Va.; a sister, Hazel Barbee of Haysville, N.C.; a brother, John W. Mills of Heathsville, Va.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Loving Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Philip J. Parker. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 8 to 9 p.m. today. The family suggests memorial contributions to Calvary Baptist Church. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
