ALVIN R. HENDERSON SR.

Alvin Roy Henderson Sr., 71, died Sunday, March 16, 1997, in Mary Washington Hospital.

He was born April 21, 1925, in King George County, Va., and was a retired construction superintendent for VEPCO. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge in Portsmouth. He was also a member of the Elk's Lodge in Fredericksburg.

He was predeceased by his parents, Alvin Wise Henderson and Elsie Williams, and his first wife, Marjorie Voight Henderson.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy Willard Henderson; two sons, Alvin Roy Henderson Jr. of Portsmouth and Thomas L. Henderson of Chesapeake; daughter, Patricia H. Toms of Charlottesville, Va.; stepson, James P. Willard of Fredericksburg; two stepdaughters, Julie Willard Pollard of Richmond and Nancy G. Willard of King George, Va.; five grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church by the Revs. Keith Boyette and Ray Vinson. Pallbearers will be H. Smith Bradshaw, Terry Wilson, Hilbert Newton, James L. Wiltshire, Robert Morris, John Snellings, Henry D. Pollard, Roy M. Wiltshire and H. Thomas Grissom Jr. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Fletcher's Chapel U.M.C., 8330 Fletcher's Chapel Road, King George, Va. 22485. Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
