JOHN S. BAER

John S. ``Johnny'' Baer, 78, died March 11, 1997.

A native of Barre, Vt., he was a quarterman-machinist in Shop No. 38, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, and retired in 1972. He was a member of Washington-Lafayette Masonic Lodge No. 176 and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He was predeceased by his wife, Gloria J. Baer.

Survivors include his daughter, Bonnie A. Hall and her husband, Everett, of Chesapeake; son, John M. Baer and his wife, Judith, of Palatka; two sisters, Molly Roberts of Mechanicsville, Md., and June Howard of Kensington, Md.; brother, James I. Baer of Houston; seven grandchildren, John Hall, Paige Stanley, Randall, Kendall, Anthony, Hans and Karl Baer; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. T.M. Frye. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
