John Albert Wells, 81, a native of Isle of Wight County, died Wednesday, March 19, 1997, in Vincennes, Ind.
Mr. Wells was the son of the late John Walter and Edna Harris Wells. He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding and was the husband of the late Estelle Slade Wells.
He is survived by two sons, Albert D. Wells of Vincennes, Jerome A. Wells of Arizona; two stepdaughters, Brenda O'Donnell of Texas and Carolyn Tolson of Richmond; five sisters, Betty W. Modlin of Suffolk, Ivy W. Emory of Chesterfield, Rose W. Emory of Hopewell, Minnie W. Bulls of Dendron, Nettie W. Jones of Smithfield; three brothers, Milton L. Wells of Petersburg, Guy W. Wells of Ivor, Sydney J. Wells of Carson; and several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by the Rev. Steve Bradshaw. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
