WILLARD R. PATE

Mr. Willard Ross Pate, 67, of the 500 block of Red Bluff St., died March 24, 1997.

Born Oct. 8, 1929, in Clio, he was a son of the late John L. Pate and Floyd Pate Atkins. He was a 1950 graduate of The Citadel and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Central Wholesale Supply, Norfolk, and he and his wife moved from Virginia Beach to Clio in September 1994. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the church choir. He was predeceased by a brother, John L. Pate III.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Helene Lake Pate; sons, Willard Ross Pate Jr. and David Pate of Virginia Beach; daughter, Valerie P. Rauh of Chesapeake; and four grandchildren.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Trinity United Methodist Church with burial in McLucas Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 156, Clio, S.C. 29525, or to The Citadel Brigadier Foundation Inc., MSC 36, The Citadel, Charleston, S.C. 29401-0461. Visitation is anytime at the home.
