Mildred Estelle McBurney, 89, died March 28, 1997, in Riverside Convalescent Center.
A native of Tennessee, she was a former resident of South Norfolk and a resident of Newport News for 21 years. She a bookkeeper for National Bank of Commerce, Campostella Branch, and retired in 1972 with 19 years of service. She was past president of Professional Business Women Club and was a square dancer.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Brennan and her husband, James, of Newport News; four grandchildren, Peggy Chamblee of Birmingham, Ala., Jan Allen, Kathleen Balding, both of Newport News, and James N. Brennan IV of Charlotte, N.C.; and eight great-grandchildren.
