Kaye Whitney Smith, 53, of the 1400 block of Lakeview Drive, died March 29, 1997, in DePaul Medical Center.

A homemaker, she was a member of Open Door Chapel.

Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Whitehurst of Virginia Beach, Susan Leeann Bunting of Chesapeake; mother, Virginia Whitney of Norfolk; two brothers, Leigh M. Whitney of Orlando, Fla., and the Rev. Norman M. Whitney of Graham, N.C.; five grandchildren; and two aunts, Evelyn M. Dadmun and Frances M. Ward, both of Norfolk.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Frank Drake and Pastor Douglas Ross. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society Association or a charity of one's choice.
