GARNET MARCUM

Garnet ``Jackie'' Marcum died early Sunday at her residence.

She was born April 6, 1923, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to Garnet Ethel Adkins Alcorn and Harry Jackson Alcorn. Jackie was educated in Williamson, W.Va. She married her high school sweetheart, Buddy Marcum, in Huntington, W.Va., on July 18, 1942. In 1950, they moved to Virginia Beach and in 1978, they moved to Midland. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, serving on several committees. She also taught in the youth Sunday School departments. After moving to Midland, she moved her membership to First Baptist Church. She retired from active church work in 1980, due to her illness.

Mrs. Marcum is survived by her husband, H.R. ``Buddy'' Marcum; a daughter, Judith Ann Bruner of Midland; a brother, Harry G. Alcorn of Portsmouth, Ohio; two sisters, Emma O. Marcum of Ruckersville, Va., and Peggy Clark of South Bend, Ind.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Ellis Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Porterfield, associate minister of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Rest-haven Memorial Park. The family requests memorials be directed to Hospice of Midland, P.O. Box 2621, Midland, Texas 79702. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
