Temple Sinai will be part of a national ``Shabbat Across America'' celebration Friday night.
The program, which will include a short prayer service and a traditional Sabbath meal complete with singing and dancing, is open to all Jews.
``We need to show American Jews that Shabbat and Judaism are more than chicken soup and gefilte fish. It's an enriching spiritual event that happens every week,'' Temple Sinai Rabbi Arthur Z. Steinberg said. ``Singing, dancing, good food and wine, and a chance to leave the outside world behind while spending quality time with family and friends - it certainly beats sitting around the television on Friday night.''
The national celebration is sponsored by the National Jewish Outreach Program. For information and reservations, call Temple Sinai at 484-1730. Temple Sinai is located at 4401 Hatton Point Road. MEMO: Staff writer Ida Kay Jordan contributed to this report.
