MAMIE C. BECK

Mamie Contrado Beck, 90, of the 2800 block of Lens Ave., died March 30, 1997, in a Norfolk hospital.

Mrs. Beck was a native of Portsmouth, and a lifelong resident of Norfolk. She was employed with the Virginia Club for 15 years, and retired in 1962. She was the widow of Nathan Merrill Beck, and was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Norfolk. Mrs. Beck was a member of the Sons of Italy, Roma Lodge 254.

Survivors include a son, N. Merrill Beck Jr. and his wife, Charlotte, of Norfolk; three sisters, Virgie Robertson of Virginia Beach, Mary Beck of Norfolk, Antoinette Baxter of Virginia Beach; a brother, Vincent Contrado of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, Nathan Beck II, Theresa Zackek, Beverly Ouzts, Cecilia Hess and Joseph Beck and eight great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 1997, at Christ the King Catholic Church by the Rev. Joseph P. Lehman. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. A Christian Wake service will be held in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, Wednesday evening at 7 p.m., by the Rev. Edward L. Richardson. Memorial donations may be made to the International Order of the Alhambra, Padul Caravan 69, P.O. Box 14296, Norfolk, Va. 23518. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, will be handling the arrangements.
