SADYE R. SHAW

Sadye Ringer Shaw died Sunday, March 30, 1997, in Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital, Norfolk.

A teacher and program adviser to teachers of emotionally disturbed students, she worked for Norfolk City Public Schools for 25 years before retiring 15 years ago. She was a native of Bayboro, N.C., and a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Norfolk, and the choir. She was a church elder and member of the National Black Caucus of Special Educators, Council of Exceptional Children, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, former president of Newsome Farm Civic League and volunteer pianist with the Salvation Army.

Survivors include her husband, Norman Shaw; grandchildren, Christine Wilson and Isaac Wilson Jr.; a sister, Belle R. Wells of Durham, N.C.; son-in-law, Isaac Wilson Sr.; special friend of the family, Clifton Gatling. She was predeceased by her daughter, Stephanie Shaw Wilson; her mother, Cora McMillian Ringer; and her father, Thomas T. Ringer.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday, April 4, 1997, in First United Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Ditawa M. Nianda. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. Hale Funeral Home is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
