Retired U.S. Navy Capt. George H. Hamilton, 97, formerly of Virginia Beach, died March 23, 1997, of natural causes at the Arleigh Burke Pavilion Nursing Home, McLean, Va.
He was a longtime resident of Virginia Beach since 1959 before moving to McLean, where he joined a retirement community. In his long career in the Navy he served in the Aleutian Island (Alaska), the Panama Canal Zone and Norfolk. He was decorated many times for his outstanding service in his military career.
Survivors include his son, George H. Hamilton Jr. and a grandchild.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, in Arlington National Cemetery. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
