CATHERINE M. SMITH

Catherine Marie Smith of the 1700 block of Goodman St. died April 2, 1997, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

A housewife, she was a Portsmouth native and the widow of Alexander Smith. She was a member of St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion Church, Campostella, Norfolk.

Survivors include five daughters, Carolyn Williams and Amanda Davenport of Norfolk, the Rev. Mary E. Peddy of Roxbury, Mass., Ernestine Skinner of St. Louis and Phyllis S. Fitchett of Chesapeake; three sons, Wayne Smith and Stanley Smith of Chesapeake, Lawrence Smith of Norfolk; 44 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and many other surviving relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion Church, Campostella, Norfolk, by the Rev. G.L. Scott. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Fitchett Funeral Home is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
