OH, THE DOO DAH DAY!

ILLUSTRATION: Color photo by BILL TIERNAN photos/The Virginian-Pilot

Led by Howard Davis, The Nasty Boys of Norfolk's Waste Management

Division strut down Main Street in Friday's Sixth Occasional

Downtown Doo Dah Parade. The perennial favorites won the Fool's Cup

and were joined by about 50 other units of wild and wacky marchers.

Sydney Meers, above, owner of the Dumbwaiter restaurant, reigned

over the mayhem as grand marshal. Prize winners also included Glenn

and Sadler, with honorable mentions for S.L. Nusbaum Realty and the

Pepper Lovers Club. More than 7,500 people turned out to watch,

including, below, Susan Harwell and her 4-month-old son, Macon, and

Judy Haller, all of Virginia Beach.
