Walter Freeman Sr., 65, of the 1300 block of Green St., died April 3, 1997, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Born in Garysburg, N.C., he was the widower of Beulah Freeman and was a mechanic of Safeway Cab Co., retiring with 10 years of service.
Survivors include four daughters, Bertha Rogers of New York City, Helen Freeman and Margaret Freeman, Cassandra Mason, all of Portsmouth; two sons, Walter Freeman Jr. and Richard E. Freeman, both of Portsmouth; a sister, Margaret Jones of Portsmouth; a brother, Pernell Freeman of Portsmouth; 21 grandchildren; an aunt, Hattie Mae Putney of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; uncle, Moses Freeman of Garysburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends; and a very special friend, Tawana Mason.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Winston I. Simmons. Viewing at the funeral home will begin at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
