James P. Cooke Jr., 72, died April 5, 1997, in a local hospital.
Born in Washington, D.C., he was the owner of Cooke Brothers Tile & Marble Co. Inc. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, a U.S. Naval veteran of World War II, a charter member of St. Matthews Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus (NU)10601.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary ReDavid Cooke; a daughter, Rose Marie Lee of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Lonnie J. Cooke of Summerville, Ga., Arondell Jones of Memphis, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Michelle Denise Lee, Harold Wayne Lee Jr., James Michael Lee, all of Virginia Beach; three aunts, several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents, James P. Cooke Sr. and Lonnie A. Cooke and sister, Marie Cooke Wilkins.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Nicholas Catholic Church by Fr. James Noto. A Christian Wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today in the church, where the family will also receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lee, Wayne Lee, Mark Cooke, Christopher Cooke, Frank ReDavid Jr. and Louis ReDavid Jr. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, is handling arrangements.
