Clarastine Sligh, 79, died on March 31, 1997 in St. Marys Hospital, Brooklyn,N.Y., after a lengthy illness.
Clarastine was the daughter of a the late Joseph and Ellen Sligh and a native of Portsmouth, Glendale Norfolk County.
She is survived by an adoptive daughter-niece, Carole Briggs; two sisters, Bessie Mae Cooke of Portsmouth and Naomi Headley of New York City; two brothers, Marshall Sligh of Long Branch, N.J. and Marion Sligh of Newport News; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
