PUBLIC HEARING
Shea Terrace: Request of New Light Baptist Church for a use permit to operate a church/youth center at 300 Williamsburg Ave. Denied, 5-2; Mayor James W. Holley III and Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons voted in favor.
Citywide: Proposal to amend the Zoning Ordinance pertaining to Home Occupations. Approved, 7-0
Citywide: Request of the City of Portsmouth for a code amendment to permit residential care facilities within Residential Single-Family RS-75 zoning districts with the issuance of a use permit, deferred from the regular meeting of March 11. Approved, 4-3; Holley, and Councilmen Bernard D. Griffin and Cameron C. Pitts opposed.
Cavalier Manor: Request of Paul Battle for a use permit to expand a residential care facility at 914 Dandridge Drive, deferred from the regular meeting of March 11. Denied, 5-0-2; Councilmen Pitts and James T. Martin abstained.
CITY MANAGER'S REPORT
Adoption of an ordinance to amend Chapter 22 of the City Code by adding Section 22-582.1 and repealing Section 22-578 pertaining to motor vehicles and traffic. Approved, 7-0
Adoption of an ordinance closing a 10-foot alley at Hartford Street between Cambridge and Pacific Avenues. Approved, 7-0
Adoption of a motion to transfer $200,000 from the General Fund Contingency to pay for Juvenile Group Home and Detention Home expenses. Approved, 7-0
Adoption of a motion to transfer $16,339 from the Grants Contingency Account to purchase computer hardware and related equipment and supplement the current grant for the Community Corrections Program. Approved, 7-0
