MAJOR WRIGHT

Deacon Major Wright, 64, of 803 Seminole Drive, slipped into eternal rest April 6, 1997, in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Wright was a native of Burgaw, N.C. He was the son of the late Willie Wright Sr. and Beluah Wright of Burgaw. He was a member of Tabernacle U.C.C. where he served faithfully as a deacon, the No. 2 Usher Board and C.R. Upton Usher Board. Mr. Wright retired from Lipton Tea Inc.

He was predeceased by a sister, Ms. Beluah Robinson; four brothers, Dan Wright, Louis Wright, James Wright and Edward Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Mrs. Ardell S. Wright; two loving daughters, Ms. Della D. Wright and Mrs. Connie Wright Brown, both of Richmond; two special grandchildren, Aaron and Blake Brown of Richmond; a faithful son-in-law, Tyree Brown of Richmond; two sisters, Hattie Wright of Burgaw and Catherine Murphy of Maple Hill, N.C.; five brothers, Frank Wright of Burgaw, Roscoe Wright of Jamaica, N.Y., Willie Wright of Raleigh, N.C, Emmitt Wright of Queens, N.Y., and Tom Smith of Wilmington, N.C.; two sisters-in-law, Ada Wright of Suffolk and Dianne Wright of Queens; two brothers-in-law, George Simpson of Jacksonville, N.C., and Earl Simpson of Burgaw; mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary L. James of Burgaw; three goddaughters, Tori and Kristen Whitler of Chesapeake and Bryce Williams of Suffolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A homegoing service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Tabernacle U.C.C. with the Rev. Carlton R. Upton Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Park. Peebles Funeral Home is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
