WILLIAM G. MELLON SR.

William Grayson Mellon Sr., 62, of the 700 block of Wood Duck Lane, died Wednesday, April 9, 1997, in a local hospital.

Mr. Mellon was born in Chicago and was the son of the late Walter and Adele Mellon. He was a claims manager for Virginia Mutual Insurance Co. He had formerly been with the Richmond Police Department for 10 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member and past commander of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 54. Mr. Mellon was a member of the Hampton Roads Claims Association, the Virginia State Claims Association, the Virginia Claims Law Association and he was also past president of the Winchester Claims Association.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Mellon; his son, William Grayson Mellon Jr. of Virginia Beach; his brother, W. Giles Mellon of New York City; and six stepgrandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, by Commander Bob Adaire. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Shriners' Crippled Children's Hospital. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
