EMMA W. DAVIS

Emma Waddill Davis, 99, of the 300 block of Clay St., died April 9, 1997, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Davis, a native of Victoria, Va., was the daughter of the late James T. and Virginia Wade Waddill. She was the widow of Evander A. Davis. Mrs. Davis was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College, Bristol, Va., and a 1926 graduate of the College of William and Mary. Mrs. Davis formerly taught school in Victoria and Caroline County, Va., and Washington County, N.C., and was the oldest member of Franklin Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Davis; her son, Frank W. Davis of Columbia, S.C.; two sisters, Margaret Carter of Franklin and Virginia Blanton of Petersburg; two grandchildren, Greg and Nicole Davis; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. Dr. Ira D. Hudgins and the Rev. Dr. Roy DeBrand. Memorials may be made to the Franklin Baptist Church or The Children's Center, 700 Campbell Ave., Franklin, Va. Wright Funeral Home is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
