Gov. George Allen has appointed Thomas B. Hoover of New Kent County to fill a Circuit Court vacancy in the Ninth Judicial Circuit.
Hoover, the chief judge for the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court of the Ninth Judicial District since 1994, replaces William Person Jr., who retired effective March 3.
Hoover graduated magna cum laude from the University of Richmond. He also spent 13 years as the commonwealth's attorney in New Kent County.
Allen said he also considered Judge J.R. Zepkin of Williamsburg and Judge William H. Shaw III of Gloucester County.
The Ninth Judicial Circuit includes the counties of King and Queen, King William, New Kent, Charles City, James City, Gloucester, Middlesex, Mathews and York, and the city of Williamsburg. KEYWORDS: JUDGESHIPS APPOINTMENT
