RUTH I. ETHERIDGE

Ruth I. Etheridge, 96, of Westminster Canterbury, died Friday, April 11, 1997. She was a native of Norfolk and the daughter of the late Amelia Ivings and Robert Etheridge.

Miss Etheridge was a graduate of the University of Virginia Nursing School and joined the U.S. Public Health Service, became a commissioned officer and was active in World War II. She retired from the public health service in 1962 after more than 38 years of service.

She was a member of the Diamond Springs Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 22.

Survivors include her sister, Elizabeth Creekmore of Richmond; niece, Jean E. Sanders of Tullahoma, Tenn.; nephew, James S. Etheridge Jr. of Norfolk; and other nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, April 14, 1997, in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Dr. Jack Austin. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Cox Funeral Home is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
