LILLIAN M. MASSEY

Lillian Kent Madry Massey, 88, of the 200 block of South Colony Ave. died April 11, 1997, in Roanoke Chowan Hospital. She was the widow of Rupert V. Massey.

Mrs. Massey was born in Halifax County and was a member of Ahoskie United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a graduate of Louisburg College and East Carolina University and was a retired school teacher and principal in the N.C. public school system. Mrs. Massey was also very active with the Ahoskie Public Library, the Boy Scouts of America, and was a past member of the Hertford County School Board.

Survivors include three sons, R. Vann Massey Jr. of Norfolk, David E. Massey of Falls Church, Va., Alan K. Massey of Manteo; five grandchildren, Leila Phillips of Potomac, Md., Jason Brooks Massey of Austin, Texas, Jennifer Ann Massey of Dallas, Texas, Sarah Elizabeth Massey and Leslie Kent Massey, both of Manteo; and a great-granddaughter, Miranda A. Massey of Austin.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Ahoskie Cemetery by the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Hall. The family will receive friends in Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the Ahoskie Public Library or Ahoskie United Methodist Church. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
