JAMES B. ARCHER

James B. Archer, 88, of the 1900 block of Jefferson St., died April 12, 1997.

Born in Hertford County, N.C., he was the widower of Lucille Archer. He was retired from the Norfolk Naval Base after 30 years of service. He was also a member of St. John Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Sedgwick and Elaine Jarvis, both of Hampton; a sister, Mary A. Simmons; three brothers, Dennis Archer, Marvin C. Archer and Adrain Archer; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Manning.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Robert Earls. The body will be placed in St. John Baptist Church at noon. The family will also assemble at the church. Fisher Funeral Home is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
