Kenneth Ray Melson Jr., 33, of the 200 block of Elon Court went to be with the Lord April 15, 1997.
Kenneth graduated from First Colonial High School in 1981, where he was active in the N.J.R.O.T.C. and played sax in the band under Max Ganano. From high school, he joined the Marine Corps. When Hurricane Andrew hit Homestead, Fla., he wanted to help, so he learned roofing and left Virginia Beach. He loved people and they loved him.
He will be deeply missed by friends and family. Survivors include his parents, Kenneth Sr. and Jacquelyn Melson; brother, Richard Melson; sister, Caroline M. Robbins and her husband, Robert, and their two children, Jacquelyn and Kenneth Robbins; maternal grandmother, Alice V. Doyle of Jamaica Plain, Mass.
Service will be held Friday, April 18, 1997, in Great Neck Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bill Kincaid and Dr. Rita Hickey officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Full Circle Hospice, 110 24th St., Norfolk, Va. 23517. Altmeyer Funeral Home is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
