S. Chris Jones faces two other Republicans in that party's

primary for the 76th House District seat. The other two Republican

candidates are Amos D. Neill and Betty Jolly Perkinson. Though the

full list was included in an article Saturday, a paragraph in the

story erroneously said Jones was the only Republican candidate.

In a story that ran March 12, testimony by a defendant in a

federal money-laundering trial was misquoted. Milton McMahan, who

was convicted of trying to hide land he purchased with drug money,

said in a letter to his brother, ``We must have a plan . . . I

refuse to lose without some kind of battle. We may lose a few

battles, but we must win the war.''

The story quoted McMahan as writing, ``We must have the land.''

A community news brief published in the April 11 Currents, the

community news section for Portsmouth readers, contained an error. A

candelight vigil in remembrance of crime victims will be held at 7

tonight at the Portside Amphitheater. The Currents brief gave an

incorrect day.
