James Matthews Herbener, 84, of the 3000 block of Terrace Road died Tuesday, April 15, 1997, in Sentara Hampton General Hospital.
A resident of Hampton for 47 years, he retired from the accounting department of Virginia Electric Power Co. in 1975 after 39 years.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Dunn Herbener; son, James M. Herbener Jr.; two grandchildren, Heather Marie Herbener and Matthew R. Herbener.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Elizabeth S. Wright. Memorials may be made to the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 151 Wythe Parkway, Hampton, Va. 23661. Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home is handling arrangements.. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
