ROY L. GRAY

Roy Linvil Gray, 81, died April 15, 1997, at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Great Bridge.

He was born Feb. 21, 1916, in Avon, N.C., son of the late William and Margaret O'Neal Gray. He was a member of Hatteras United Methodist Church. He was retired from the U.S. Coast Guard and the National Park Service.

Surviving are his wife, Clarice Ballance Gray; a son, Roy L. Gray Jr. of Etowah, Tenn.; a daughter, Jeanie Cox of Frisco, N.C.; three sisters, Pearl Madrin of Rivera Beach, Fla., Lucy Ballance of Elizabeth City and Earle Scarborogh of Avon; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held today at 2 p.m. at Hatteras United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jim Huskins and the Rev. Don Brown officiating. Altmeyer Funeral Home is in charge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
