Police say an Elizabeth City man arrested while breaking into a Hughes Boulevard restaurant is believed to have burglarized at least five other businesses in the last two weeks.
Lonnie Donnell Brooks was arrested at Elaine's Country Kitchen about 11 p.m. Sunday.
An investigation by city police detectives indicates Brooks may have broken into local businesses on at least five other occasions since April 5, police said.
Brooks is being held in the Albemarle Jail under a $5,000 secured bond.
A tip from a citizen led to Brook's arrest, according to a news release from Police Chief Michael R. Lloyd.
The caller received a $200 reward for his assistance.
``This is an excellent example of how close cooperation between citizens, businesses, the community, civic groups and the police can lead to the swift arrest and incarceration of criminals in our city,'' Lloyd said. KEYWORDS: ROBBERIES ARREST
