CAL KEE

Cal Kee, 87, of the 1900 block of Laigh Circle died April 16, 1997, in Chesapeake.

Mr. Kee was born in Gumberry, N.C., to the late Thomas and Caroline Kee. He was predeceased by his wife, Mamie Kee. He received his formal education at the Northampton County Training School. He was a retired rigger at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard with 37 years of service. He was a faithful member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church and served throughout the years as chairman of the deacon board, a trustee and Sunday school superintendent.

Survivors include a daughter, Frances Brown and her husband, Luke, of Chesapeake; three sons, Cal B. Kee and his wife, Mary, of Portsmouth, William Thomas Kee and his wife, Mary, of Falls Church, Va., and Jesse E. Kee Sr. and his wife, Myrtle, of Suffolk; two stepdaughters, Doris Johnson and her husband, Allen, of Greensboro, N.C., Evelyn Scandrett and her husband, Cecil of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Bob Kee and Ulysses Kee of Gumberry; and a granddaughter, whom he reared, Tracie (Kee) Pettis of Tampa, Fla.; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend of the family, Gracie Elliot.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the home of the deceased on Laigh Circle. A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Olive Branch Baptist Church by Dr. James B. Sharp.
