Two men were killed in unrelated slayings in Norfolk Thursday, and police said the suspects in both cases are at large.
The first slaying occurred just before 2 a.m. in the Poplar Hall section of the city.
Police were called to The Broadway Club in the 5600 block of Virginia Beach Blvd. after receiving a call that a man had been shot.
When police arrived, they found 29-year-old Tyrone Pace of Buffalo, N.Y., suffering from a severe gunshot wound. He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police spokesman Larry Hill said Pace apparently had left the club and was shot while he was in the 5600 block of Brickell Road. Pace then returned to The Broadway for help.
The second killing occurred about 2:30 p.m. at Bay Seafood take-out restaurant in the 1300 block of E. Princess Anne Road.
Hill said a male employee was killed inside the restaurant but little other information was available.
The man was identified as Artuio Cerdenola, 44, of the 300 block of Ansel Ave. in Portsmouth. Police said he is survived by a mother and a sister.
Police said the man possibly died of a gunshot wound but the cause of death will not be released until an examination at the medical examiner's office is completed.
The slaying, which occurred across the street from the football stadium at Booker T. Washington High School, drew a small crowd of onlookers, who gathered in front of nearby businesses and homes.
Bay Seafood is a small establishment that features seafood to go. A sign in the window offers fish and fries. Several people who live nearby said the restaurant draws many customers. MEMO: Anyone with information about either homicide is asked to call
