EVELYN B. THOMAS

Evelyn Biggs Thomas, 56, formerly of Chesapeake, died April 14, 1997, in Gibson Island, Md.

Born in Williamston, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Clara Biggs. Educated in the Norfolk School System, she worked many years for Norfolk Collegiate School and five years at Norfolk State University. Recently she was employed by the American Chiropractor of Silver Spring, Md.

Survivors include her husband, James Thomas; three daughters, Antonia Jones of Crofton, Md., Cheryl Scott of Silver Spring, Lisa Brooks of Crofton, Md.; three sons, Michael Lott of Washington, D.C., James Lott of Charlotte, N.C., Stephen Lott of Norfolk; four brothers, Phillip Rogers of Jamaica, N.Y., Walter Biggs of Broadview Heights, Ohio, Benjamin Biggs of San Diego, Thurman Biggs of Norfolk; four sisters, Patsy Hamilton of San Diego, Deborah Vaughan of Norfolk, Bonnie Smithers of Virginia Beach and Theresa Robertson of Chesapeake; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, April 21, in Garrett Community Baptist Church by Dr. Johnnie Reid. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at 2013 Ryegate Court, Virginia Beach. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
