MATILDA SESSOMS

Matilda Sessoms of the 2500 block of Middle St. died April 16, 1997.

Born in Edenton, N.C., she was the widow of William Sessoms Jr. A member of Greater Metropolitan A.M.E.Z., she was president of the Willing Workers, a member of Stewardess Board No. 1 and Usher Board I. She was also a missionary, deaconess, a class leader, head of the kitchen committee and Athenian Class.

Survivors include two sisters, Arnetha Wills of Hertford, N.C., Margaret Sinceno of Norfolk; a brother, Charles Stallings of New York City; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Greater Metropolitan A.M.E.Z. by the Rev. G. Bernard Crawford. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The body will be placed in state at 9:30 a.m. Monday. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
