An article Friday on Chesapeake's increase in residentially zoned
land mistated the number of approved units in the Ramsgate
development. A February rezoning by the City Council approved about
360 units on about 153 acres.
Chesapeake's population is 188,400, according to a 1996 estimate.
A chart on Wednesday's Public Life page had an incorrect number.
Virginia Beach's real estate tax rate is $1.22 per $100 of
assessed value. A story Friday about the city's 1997-98 proposed
budget contained an error.
The percentage of the 1996-97 Chesapeake budget devoted to
libraries is 1 percent, not 1.9 percent. The figure was incorrect in
a story about library funding on April 8 and in a Commentary book
column on March 2.
CLARIFICATION
A story Thursday about the Pagan River includes a misleading
comment. Keith Lupton, the owner of Pagan River Seafood Company,
says he does not get most of his crabs from the Pagan, but from the
James River.
