CLARIFICATION

In one of my stories about the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, I made a reference to the record of the boys basketball team at Churchland High. While I meant no offense, the line was taken as a slap at Truckers coach Mac Carroll.

It is not my job or desire to evaluate high school basketball coaches, but were I to do so, won-loss record would be among the last things I would look at.

I have apologized personally to Carroll for any hardship my story my have caused and have dedicated myself to selecting wisdom over wit in future reports.
