Ellen O'Keeffe Ferguson, 99, of the 5000 block of Wesleyan Drive, died April 19, 1997, in Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Ferguson was born in Atlanta and had been a resident of Tidewater for 30 years. She was the daughter of the late Capt. Lawrence E. O'Keeffe and Sarah Cox O'Keeffe. Her father was a Confederate officer and she was the youngest of seven children and the only daughter. She was the widow of George Harvey Ferguson. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and a charter member of Atlanta Junior League and the Tidewater Rose Society.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty F. Willcox of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Ellen W. Ellis, Thomas H. Willcox IV and John Ferguson Willcox; six great-grandchildren, Cary Willcox Ellis, Douglas D. Ellis Jr., Thomas H. Willcox V, Matthew Ragen Willcox, Carter Pierce Willcox and Peyton Elizabeth Willcox; two nieces, Mrs. John Batson of Atlanta and Mrs. Homer Black of Tallahassee, Fla.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. James Sell and Father John J. Dorgan. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army of Hampton Roads, 203 W. 19th St., Norfolk, Va. 23517. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements.
