NICHOLAS W. PAXSON

Nicholas Wise Paxson, 77, of the 1100 block of Kilby Drive, died April 20, 1997.

Mr. Paxson was born in Norfolk and was retired as vice president from Colonna's Shipyard after 45 years. He was a lifelong member of Oaklette United Methodist Church and assistant teacher of the Ruckman Sunday School Class. He was a member of Doric Masonic Lodge (NU)44.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Steffey Paxson; a daughter, Deborah M. Paxson and her husband Michael S. Brewer of Virginia Beach; a son, Nicholas W. Paxson II and his wife Sandra W. of Norfolk; a sister, Bessie P. Etheridge and husband Martin M. of Chesapeake; grandsons, Nicholas W. Paxson III and Robert Williams Paxson, both of Norfolk; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Grace Paxson.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Oaklette United Methodist Church by the Rev. Sebert W. Rorrer. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oaklette United Methodist Church.
