GEORGE R. WILKEY

George R. Wilkey, 57, of the 1400 block of Land of Promise Road, died April 20, 1997, at Virginia Beach General Hospital.

He was a construction worker for Apex Builders and David's Construction. He also was employed for many years with Vico Construction as a pipe fitter. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include a brother, Joe Wilkey and sister-in-law, Estelle, of Chesapeake; a sister, Bernice Hobbs of Norfolk. He was loved by his niece, Tammy Inge and her husband, Ronald of South Mills, N.C.; two nephews, David Wilkey and his wife, Kim, and Eddie Wilkey and his wife, Lynelle, all of Chesapeake. He was also adored by his great-nieces, Kesha Wilkey and Brittany Inge and his great-nephews, Brian Wilkey and Taylor Inge. ``Uncle George'' will be missed by all of his family and friends because he never met a ``stranger.''

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Altmeyer Funeral Home, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Berry L. Taylor II. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery, Chocowinity, N.C. Friends may join the family at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today for visitation. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
