ELEANOR H. CARROLL

Eleanor Harvie Carroll, 99, formerly of the 1500 block of W. Little Creek Road, died April 21, 1997, in Houston, Texas.

Mrs. Carroll was born in Augusta, Ga., and was a longtime resident of Norfolk and Williamsburg. She was the widow of Raymond Gresham Carroll and a former member of Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Norfolk. Mrs. Carroll was an active member of several Virginia Garden Clubs and was instrumental in establishing the Norfolk Botanical Gardens and spent many hours in the library.

Survivors include a sister, Grace Elaine Butler of Dallas; a brother, Frank Bennett Harvie Sr. of LaMarque, Texas; and five nieces and a nephew.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Ross Wright. Memorial donations may be made to Norfolk Botanical Gardens, 6700 Azalea Gardens Road, Norfolk, Va. 23518. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
